What School Taught Me Beyond Textbooks
My first year at Delhi School Excellence, Attapur started with a mix of emotions. Wondering if I would ever fit in, I was unaware of what was waiting for me. Competitions, events, and activities gave me wonderful opportunities to showcase my talent and hone my interpersonal skills. Apart from the concepts I learnt in class, this school has taught me crucial values that I will carry with me long after I complete my education.
From leading my team in sports to deciding what to do for a group project, teamwork and cooperation are things I learn and witness at school daily. Even after I lost in competitions where I represented my house and school, this institution motivated me to resiliently rise back up from setbacks. Qualities like helpfulness, kindness, consistency, and understanding friendships have always been the strongest pillars of every class I’ve been in. These life lessons aren’t examined in class, but they are the most essential parts of our education.
Recently, I was elected as the deputy head girl for this academic year, and I feel deeply honoured to be able to serve the school in this position. The most beautiful thing for me about this year’s election was that, despite losing as a candidate last year, I was able to muster up enough courage to nominate myself again while still being in self-doubt.
The reflection on this election journey feels much greater than the joy of winning. This is only one of the many memorable experiences I have had, and honestly, I will forever hold these memories close to my heart. Today, as I see the tiny tots joyfully learning and enjoying their time in class, I understand how learning truly goes way beyond textbooks.
