Importance of Environmental Protection
On the occasion of World Earth Day, I would like to share my thoughts as a concerned student about the condition of our planet.
Oil dumping, water pollution, poaching, water waste, energy waste, and deforestation are just a few of the serious problems that Earth is facing today. This beautiful planet has always sheltered us and provided everything we need to live comfortably. Yet, in return, we pollute its waters, destroy its forests, and harm its wildlife. The least we can do is correct our actions and give back to the planet that gives us life.
Humans have been using Earth’s resources for their own benefit without realizing the damage being caused. When oil, sewage, and garbage are dumped into oceans, marine life suffers. Coral reefs lose their beauty and life. Turtles often mistake plastic bags for jellyfish, eat them, and sadly die. One way to reduce this harm is by recycling hazardous materials and reusing waste in productive ways, such as in paints and dyes.
Deforestation is another major concern. Millions of trees are cut every day for furniture, paper, and other needs—but how much is truly necessary? Trees are the lungs of our planet. They provide us with oxygen and support countless species. When forests are destroyed, animals lose their homes and are forced to enter human settlements. Ironically, we then complain that animals are “invading” our space, even though we are the ones who disturbed theirs.
As students of Delhi School of Excellence, Attapur, #CBSE best school# we are encouraged to be responsible and aware individuals. Our school constantly inspires us to care for the environment by promoting activities like planting trees, reducing waste, and conserving resources. These small steps help us grow not only academically but also as responsible citizens of the Earth.
Even simple actions—like planting a tree, avoiding littering, saving water, and protecting wildlife—can create a big impact. We may feel our efforts are small, but together, they can bring meaningful change.
Our planet does so much for us. Now it’s our turn to take responsibility. Let us be aware, be mindful, and take action—because it is the little things that can truly change the world.
