National Mathematics Day

The nation celebrates National Mathematics Day with a number of educational initiatives at schools and universities across the nation.
National Mathematics Day is celebrated on 22nd December every year in honour of the renowned mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. The primary objective of the celebration is to raise awareness about the importance of mathematics for the advancement of humanity. The students of Delhi School of Excellence, Banjara Hills presented a well-thought out program highlighting his indelible contributions to mathematical analysis, number theory, infinite series and continued fractions. The students spoke about the value of every second in life. They performed a dance on identifying shapes and a skit on mathematical concepts. The unique idea of Sacred Geometry which encapsulates the specific symbolic representation of shapes such as circles for Yin Yang, Piscis Eye Trinity, etc, was presented using pictures. Slokas in Sanskrit and Arabic verses were also recited to signify the importance of Maths in spiritual well-being of people. An enriching dance was performed in which angles were shown in dance postures. For the understanding of the concepts of Algebra, students performed mime on statistics and probability in which 3D models were used and a human pyramid was formed. A melodious song on Mathematics entertained everyone. The student paper used paper cut outs and colourful costumes to bring the program alive. Competent compering by students and a well-coordinated program was appreciated by Ms. Shilpa Ravi Chairperson, DSE Group of Institutions.
