International Literacy Day

“Literacy is a bridge from misery to hope.” – Kofi Annan

International Literacy Day is celebrated every year on 8th September to address the global problem of illiteracy. In addition to fighting illiteracy, the goal of International Literacy Day is also to promote reading as a means of empowering both people and the entire communities. The students of Delhi School of Excellence, Banjara Hills in a special assembly program on 8th September, 2022 enunciated the benefits of literacy and how it enables people to become better selves. They narrated a story, recited a poem using props and read out an article about how opportunities present themselves to those who seek the company of books and expand the horizon of those seeking knowledge.
