The day dawned bright and clear to the tunes of patriotic numbers playing on loud speakers. We at DSE Banjara Hills, had our day planned out too.The celebrations began with the hoisting of the tricolour by our principal Ms Veena Murthy, followed by the rendering of the national anthem.
Ms Veena Murthy addressed the gathering and with a speech exhorting us to ask, not what the country has done for us, but ask what we have done for the country. These thought provoking words were an inspiration to all.To further make this point, a skit on the importance of voting and choosing the right leader, was staged.
The children of grades III & IV rendered Chodo kal ki baatein, mellifluously.
This was followed by the folk dance of Rajasthan, Ghoomar, by the members of the Spartan House. It was smooth and graceful.
To showcase the multifaceted fabric of our country, a song in three Indian languages, Hindi, Telugu and Tamil, was presented by the children.
The celebrations wound up with a speech by Hasini on the role of students in maintaining and respecting our freedom.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Priyadarshini, who also ably anchored the show.
