Yoga, a physical, mental and spiritual practice that originated in India, is a worldwide phenomenon today and celebrated on 21st June as International Yoga Day. The extended assembly witnessed the International Yoga Day being celebrated in Delhi School of Excellence, Banjara Hills. The program was initiated by the Principal, Ms. Veena Murthy. Ms. Rimpa, Coordinator for Grades I to V and HoD of English, explained the importance of Yoga as an exercise to maintain both physical and mental health. Ms. Sharada, Social Science teacher, demonstrated and elucidated the importance of the seven Yoga mudras – Gyana, Shuni, Surya, Buddhi, Prana, Dhyana and Anjali mudras. Mr. Naidu, Physical Trainer and Yoga instructor, along with his students, beautifully demonstrated the various Yoga asanas with soothing flute music playing in the background. At the end, Mr. Naidu impressed all those who were present by demonstrating the most difficult asanas with great ease and poise.
