STUDENT COUNSELLING

“Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change” - Jim Rohn

School counsellors collaborate with educators, parents, and other professionals to create a safe, healthy, and supportive learning environment for all students. Children face unique and diverse challenges, both personally as well as developmentally and the impact is felt on their academic achievements. Counselling empowers individuals and helps them to achieve mental health, wellness, and academic goals. Here comes the role of a school counsellor who plays a vital role in the success of students. It is believed that if help is provided at the right time with appropriate intervention, the individual not only leads a fulfilling life but also gains a stronger understanding of self.

As the in house counsellor of Delhi school of Excellence, my approach towards the students of all ages is on a one-to- one basis, along with performing a range of informal assessments to identify their strengths and to uncover the areas in need of improvement. The children with special needs such as learning difficulties, behavioral issues and ADHD are identified and personal counselling sessions are provided. The orientation programme for the teachers and parents along with the one-to-one interaction enable everyone to understand the importance of a school counsellor. Group sessions in the classes are conducted on a regular basis to motivate the children as well as to keep a tab on their performance.

The awesome journey through these years at Delhi School of Excellence has been a wonderful one.
